Cookie policy
Last updated — September 2026The short version
This site sets no cookies unless you accept them. If you click Accept, Google Analytics sets its cookies (_ga and _ga_*, kept for up to two years) so we can see which pages are read and where visitors come from. We also count visits with Vercel Web Analytics, which uses no cookies and doesn't identify you. There are no advertising tools of any kind. The site also uses a few small items of browser storage to make the site work the way you'd expect, and none of them identify you.
The law
In the UK, the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations 2003 (PECR) require consent before a site stores or reads anything on your device, unless it is strictly necessary to provide the service you asked for. Everything below is in that strictly necessary category, or is your own consent choice being remembered.
What the site stores
| Name | Type | What it does | How long |
|---|---|---|---|
chroma_cookies | Local storage | Remembers whether you accepted or declined in the cookie pop-up, so it doesn't ask again. | Until you clear it |
chroma_intro_seen | Session storage | Remembers that the intro animation has played, so it doesn't replay on every page. | Until you close the tab |
chroma-loader-shown | Session storage | Same purpose, for the animated logo. | Until you close the tab |
None of these are sent to us or to anyone else. They never leave your device.
Third parties
Some typefaces load from Google Fonts, so your browser requests a file from Google's servers when a page opens. Google does not set cookies for this, but it does see your IP address. See Google's privacy policy. Embedded videos on this site are self-hosted and set nothing.
Your choices
You can change your answer to the cookie pop-up at any time from Cookie settings. Declining keeps Google Analytics off; if you accepted before, declining clears its cookies. Vercel's visit counting stores nothing in your browser either way. You can also clear or block site storage in your browser settings; the site will still work.
